IN THE KITCHEN –

Many of us are already preparing ourselves to begin our holiday cooking.  Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away.  In my home, the Thanksgiving meal is always a very big deal.  It’s our tradition and it’s something I enjoy doing for my family.

Some people become stressed out with the holiday cooking.  I’d like to offer a couple of tips that can assist you with a less stressful procedure.

1.  CLEAN AS YOU GO!

Instead of waiting until you cook your entire meal, why not clean as you go.  By that, I mean to wash dishes, scrub pots, clean the counter, wipe the table, etc., as you cook.  This prevents the massive, and very intimidating pile of dirty dishes & things to clean once you finish preparing your meal.  This way, you won’t have to deal with an overwhelming amount of work AFTER you finish.  You will have cleaned and put away most things during the process of cooking.

This is much better than facing 10 pots at the end.  Take the time to wash things in increments.

2.  Set out everything you need before hand –

If you’re baking a cake, for example, don’t take out the ingredients and utensils, pans, as you need them.  I personally get a good feeling by knowing that all of my tools are before me in advance before I tackle any project.  It makes things easier, allows you to be more effecient with time, and you know that everything you need is available.  Therefore, take out the eggs, milk, butter, pan, bowl, mixer, utensils, etc. before you begin the process.
