A WORD TODAY

Posted by hashiki on October 30, 2008

The Word that God has filled my spirit with today is:

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because
greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” I John 4:4

It’s a blessing and reassurance to know that God is my father. I am
His child. His Spirit resides in me, and He is greater than he (satan)
who is in the world. Which means to me that no matter what opposition
I face, regardless of any obstacles that come my way, in spite of every
evil plot and distraction that comes before me – it doesn’t matter
because God is far greater than them all! I am victorious because of
the Lord.

Blessings!

Carla

Life Saving!

Posted by hashiki on October 9, 2008

I would like to share some thoughts of songs that I must have saved me at one time or another.  Songs that have blessed me.  Songs that God allowed me to hear at the perfect time, at the right time, when I may have been at a very low point, or simply songs that answered and addressed questions and issues that may have been going through my mind.

Carla holding Tiffy Wiffy - son Jerry Jr. by hand

Well, that’s what I lovingly call my daughter Tiffanie.  Yep, she’s my Tiffy Wiffy.  Many of you have known me all of my life, or all of your life. Some of you knew me before Tiff was born.  Some met me when Tiff was a baby/young child – in daycare – with that round face, 3 pony tails and ribbons,  and always smiling.  Now, my baby is 21, will be 22 on January 1st.  I am extremely proud of her and love the woman that she has grown up to be.

She called me last night and we talked about a number of things.  We talk every day anyway, but last night Read the rest of this entry »

WHAT ARE WE TEACHING OUR CHILDREN?

Posted by hashiki on October 6, 2008

The climate definitely is proving that all is not fair in politics.  That’s probably why I hate politics and don’t really concern myself with political matters.  Well, our Presidential election and this campaign does concern me, so I have an interest.

Of course I have my opinions on the candidates and I have made them known from time-to-time.  I have also made my choice as to who I am voting for.  So, if my choice of the Obama/Biden ticket draws a counter reaction in you, perhaps you don’t want to read any further.  Without apology, defense, or the need to seek approval, my choice is made and it is a firm decision.  This post is not about my choice (or even yours), but I will make my feelings clear on what is agitating me right now about the entire political climate and most specifically about the McCain/Palin (trying to keep from laughing) ticket.

My big concern is the question, What are we teaching our children?

POWERFUL – SAY IT, BUT MEAN IT!

Posted by hashiki on October 3, 2008

Something we all love to hear is, “I love you”.  Love is a beautiful thing, no doubt.  Love is powerful and the phrase has a way of lifting a person up.  Especially when it’s said and meant from the heart.

Yet, there is another phrase that is equally as strong –  Read the rest of this entry »

WHY ARE YOU LYING?

Posted by hashiki on October 3, 2008

There is a series of GLADE commercials that literally burn me up!  They feature this character who is simply a liar.  Pure and simple.  A straight up liar.  I understand that it’s only television and it’s only a commercial, but it concerns me because of the power of this platform.  I am concerned about the children in particular who may watch the commercial.
