POLITICS BREEDS DIVISION

Posted by hashiki on September 26, 2008

I recorded my daily podcast of this same subject today.  I won’t write much about it because I spoke quite a bit on it.  To listen:

Part 1:  Click here  –  Part 2: Click here

I truly encourage you to listen to it.  You will understand that I am advocating unity, love, and tolerance regardless of a person’s choice for President.  For the record, and I have said this publically a number of times, I am voting for Barack Obama.  He is my choice with no apologies or even the desire to justify my choice.  It’s unfortunate that that needed to be said.  People love to challenge your choices and they become dogmatic in a sense.  Regardless of your choice.

Hence, politics breeds division.

I will tell you one thing that I have very low tolerance for.  The need to try to tear down one person in order to make another look good.  I have NEVER understood that mentality.  I HATE the campaign ads that run whereas the candidate’s entire bit is in totality about their opponent.  Why not just say what you’re going to do, why you should lead, etc., etc.?  And I will admit that the ads have come from both sides.

Anyway, again, I only wish that we stop the fighting and arguing.  Let’s love one another, pray for one another, and treat everyone well!

Blessings!

Carla

It’s Not Over!

Posted by hashiki on September 25, 2008

Well, my last posting was full of ranting and raging.  So sorry about that.  But, it was real, it was honest, it was my feelings.  I went through a wide range of emotions and at one point, I actually frightened myself.  Sunk to a very deep and dark place and I knew that I could not remain there.

Blah!

Posted by hashiki on September 23, 2008

That’s how I’m feeling right now.  Really feeling low and somewhat defeated.  It’s not a good feeling.  I don’t like this word, but to be honest, I feel hopeless.  Hopeless wrapped up with worthlessness.  I’m doing my best to rise up from this slump, yet reality continues to stare in my face, knocking me back down.

Simply Me

Posted by hashiki on September 22, 2008

Not many years ago, if you would’ve asked me who I was, where I was going, what I wanted, my purpose in life, why I was here, etc., my answer would have been, “I DON’T KNOW!”

I didn’t know who Carla was.  Certainly didn’t know why God put me here.  Had no idea what I was supposed to be doing with my life.  In fact, I didn’t even like who I was, although I didn’t know who I was!

Went to the doctor, again, today!

Posted by hashiki on September 12, 2008

There always seem to be drama with me.  It’s not that bad this time, but I begged my eye doctor’s office to squeeze me in this morning.  For an entire week, I’ve been having problems with my right eye.  It’s very red and painful.  At first I thought that my eye was just sore, tired, or some type of infection, but couldn’t figure out why.  A few days ago, I began to develop excruciating pain in my eye and my head. Not my entire head. Just over that eye, and surrounding the eye, sort of like a sideways “U” formation.  The pain was getting worse and virtually unbearable.  Couldn’t imagine suffering with it all weekend, so I asked to be seen by the doctor today.  They had me to come in this morning.

I AM SO SICK OF HER VIEW!

Posted by hashiki on September 11, 2008

I am a pretty patient person.  Normally I am not only patient, but tolerant.  But not when it comes to Elisabeth Hasselbeck of ABC’s THE VIEW!

I’m not one who takes pleasure in ripping someone up or tearing them down.  I really don’t want to do that with Elisabeth, but I realize that what I am going to say may be viewed and seen that way.

AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL

Posted by hashiki on September 11, 2008

One of my favorite versions of America the Beautiful, by the late Ray Charles.  In the midst of all of this division in our country, regardless of how we feel about the Republicans or even the Democrat; no matter what our views are on McCain, Palin, Obama, or Biden; no matter how angry we are with the injustices and racism that exist in this beautiful country, the bottomline is that we are Americans.  When the terror of 9-11 occurred, no one asked, “Who did you vote for?”, “Are you Republican or Democrat?”, “Are you male or female?”, not even “Are you Black or White?”…………..Americans died together!

God has shed His grace on America.  We don’t always recognize it or appreciate it, but we are a blessed country.

Nobody sings this song as Ray Charles did.  Please enjoy it for the 3:13 seconds that the video lasts.

THE LIVES THAT NEVER WERE

Posted by hashiki on September 10, 2008

I had an interesting conversation with Anaiah (my 10 year old daughter) this morning as I combed her hair for school.  I don’t know why or how this particular subject came up, but it did.  We ended up talking about the names that were selected for my children should they have been another gender.

See, unlike most expectant parents today, I did not know the gender of my babies until they were born.  When Jerry and Tiffanie were born in 1985 and 1987, routine ultrasounds were not conducted.  They were only done as a part of treatment, I suppose, if something was wrong during the pregnancy.  When I was pregnant with Anaiah in 1997, I did have regular ultrasounds because my pregnancy was considered a high risk one.  I was OLD – (smile)  – I was 35 during the pregnancy, turned 36 less than a week after the birth.  But, I also had hypertension by then as well.

IF YOU WANT CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE, YOU MUST CHANGE!

Posted by hashiki on September 9, 2008

Just a quick thought. As I was writing earlier, I just glanced over at my bookshelf. I’m sure you know that I have a lot of books! But one seemed to stick out.  It is “Personal Coaching For Results” by Lou Tice.  Excellent book.

I was reminded how I came upon the book, and how I’m somewhat familiar with Lou Tice.  The book came as part of a coaching and training program for employers that I attended.  Actually twice.  Lou’s organization brought the training to my previous employer (I was one of a select few chosen to attend the training – goal was to have us to train the other staff).  I also attended the training with my last employer after my relocation due to Katrina.

CAN WE HAVE IT ALL?

Posted by hashiki on September 5, 2008

I do not plan to turn this entry into a political outlet, however, due to the recent and most popular turn of events that have occurred in the presidential race, I do have some thoughts.

I would like to read your thoughts in response to my posting.

Well, as we all know, the Republican Party has named Governor Sarah Palin (Alaska) as the Vice Presidential nominee.  Regardless of your political affiliation or interest, please share your thoughts on what I’m about to write.
