GOD WILL MEET YOU WHERE YOU ARE

Posted by hashiki on January 28, 2009

” He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the LORD, and he said: “I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.”  Genesis 28:12-13 (NIV)

Too often we believe that God is some distant and inapproachable object who remains out of our reach.  I hear people say that they are searching, or looking for God, as though He is lost.  Yet, it is you and I who are aloof, distant, and hard to reach.

Shattering hopes of a bright future

Working Together For Your Good

Posted by hashiki on January 15, 2009

Just like John 3:16, I believe that most people (well many) can rattle off to you from the top of their heads Romans 8:28.   Don’t feel bad if you can’t, just open the link and read.  You’ll say, “oh yeah, I know those words”.  Many times we speak them and read them, and they are just words to us.  Good words.  Encouraging words.  We even speak them, particularly Romans 8:28, as an affirmation and a statement of faith, when we are facing uncertain and trying times.

Today, I am rejoicing at a divine realization and ephiphany that God has made clear to me regarding Romans 8:28 in my life.

Don’t let anger control you

Posted by hashiki on January 12, 2009

I allowed myself to get so upset with someone last night that I ended up with chest pains and my blood pressure soared so high that I was seeing stars.  I was already having a day where I felt overwhelmed because I was doing so many things, and here I allowed some fool to just push me over the edge.

My Goings On

Posted by hashiki on January 7, 2009

I have been extremely busy over the last few months and as a result, I have not been able to remain as visible and present in some of the groups that I’ve founded, lead, or either belong to.  At this juncture, I am doing my best to spread everything out so that I can continue to be effective in all areas.

I recently shared some of my latest goings on with one of my groups.  I’d like to share it here as well.  Mostly because I desire your prayer for God to use me mightily in all that He’s called me to do and to give me the strength to do everything well.

Everyone who is WITH you isn’t FOR you!

Posted by hashiki on December 27, 2008

If you read any one of the three Synoptic Gospel writing accounts (Matthew, Mark, and Luke), you will find that there was always a large following of Jesus Christ.  In most cases, they were referred to as the “multitude”.  There were large crowds of people.  Most followed Jesus for good reason.  They wanted to learn more of Him, they wanted to be blessed, healed, delivered, forgiven.  They wanted everything that we today want from Jesus.

Yet, everyone in the crowd was not there for pure and innocent reasons.  The multitude was filtered with diversity, nay sayers, enemies, and those who wanted to destroy Him.

Why should life be any different for us?

When Christmas Isn’t Merry

Posted by hashiki on December 25, 2008

As I take some time to write this on Christmas Eve, I realize that many people will go to bed tonight with lonely and hurt hearts.  It is after 11:00 pm and the sounds of my family are still echoing throughout the house.  I spent the evening cooking and baking, and my daughter Tiffanie helped me (somewhat).  Anaiah tried to get us all to play some games with her.  Jerry enjoyed watching television, laughing at funny movies, for he has a rare night off.  Then, they all got a taste of tomorrow’s dinner tonight!  They also dug into to the cakes that were baked.  I fussed at them, with love.

MOVIE REVIEW: SEVEN POUNDS

Will Smith in Seven Pounds

Will Smith in Seven Pounds

I had the pleasure of watching the new Will Smith movie, Seven Pounds, this past weekend.  To read a full synopsis & more on the movie, click here.  It is my desire to share my insight and not to reveal the movie’s content.  Mostly because for me, personally, to read so much about a movie before seeing it for myself spoils it.  So keep that in mind before you go to the site I’ve given you in the above link.

I usually do not read or watch reviews before watching a movie.  Read the rest of this entry »

LIFE SHOULD BE LIVED

Posted by hashiki on December 19, 2008

It has been a rollercoast of emotions this week for me.  It has gotten so that I don’t know what to expect each day.  So far, after arising in good spirits, I have received news of two deaths.  One of my friends, Michael Sears (read my blog post “I Heard The Bells” and listen to my voice blog “For Everything There is a Season”), and the other of Mrs. Jones (read my blog post “No Regrets”) who is part of my husband’s family.  All very sad.  My prayers remain with the Sears and Jones families.

On the other hand, I’m feeling happy because God is blessing me in ministry.  Allowing me to be a blessing and impacting others in a positive way.  Allowing His light to shine through me.  God is using me as His vessel, as His instrument.  This is all that I desire in life.  It really is.  I don’t ask for much.  I don’t need much.  I just want to be a blessing.
