Walking In My Purpose

Empower Your Children

Often, we as adults crave and desire compliments and encouragement from others.  Employers know that it is beneficial to express their appreciation for their employees.  It makes for a nicer workplace and more productivity.  More than anything, it simply is a nice thing to do.

Why not do the same for your children?  I’m not talking about giving them allowance, or even saying to them “I love you” (although we should most definitely do that).  But, tell your children things such as:

  • I appreciate you
  • Thank you
  • I admire the person you are
  • No one else could have done what you did
  • I am honored to be your parent
  • What do you think about this that and the other? (ask their opinion – seek their input)
  • This world is a much better place because you were born

Let your child know how valuable they are.  In fact, John C. Maxwell speaks about “Adding Value to Others” in his book “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership”.  This is good practice in leadership in any form.

  • The workplace
  • In ministry
  • Organizations

Family should be at the top of the list!
